Halt And Catch Fire

Despite all our best efforts, even the most devoted and voracious viewers can’t consume all of the peak TV that’s out there. That’s one of the reasons the A.V. Club put together this handy catch-up guide—to prevent you from missing out on any more of the cultural conversation. AMC’s Halt And Catch Fire was not on that list, but only because season two wrapped last summer and season three doesn’t air until August 23. (Don’t worry, Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers, it was on our best of 2015 list.) But the period drama starring Lee Pace and Scoot McNairy as computing pioneers is a must-see, made all the more compelling by Mackenzie Davis and Kerry Bishé as their companions and now competitors.

Season three will pick up later this month with Mutiny founders Donna and Cameron, along with all the other tech entrepreneurs, figuring out the lay of the land in Silicon Valley. Joe’s not far away, though his new antivirus endeavor will now see him attempting to keep corrupting influences (not unlike himself) out of the lives and files of others. Gordon’s still around, of course, though he’s a lot worse for wear.

Now you can catch up with this bygone era, because The A.V. Club is giving away two prize packs that each include DVDs of seasons one and two of the show. For your chance to win, simply send an email to avcontests@theonion.com with the subject line “Halt And Catch Fire.” Be sure to include your name and mailing address in the body of the email. U.S. entrants only. On Tuesday, August 9, we’ll select two winners from our eligible entries and notify them shortly thereafter.
