Starz has released a trailer for its upcoming series Outlander, developed by Ronald D. Moore, creator of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica. Unsurprisingly, given Moore’s past work, the trailer offers a blend of philosophy, mysticism, and a little sex—minus the red glowing spines this time.

Outlander, adapted from the popular series of novels by Diana Gabaldon, stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire, a Scottish World War II-era combat nurse who becomes separated from her husband when a mystical stone circle sends her back in time to Scotland in 1743. She’s befriended/rescued by Jamie (Sam Heughan)—an apparently perpetually shirtless young Scottish lord whom Starz’s ad copy insists on describing as ‘strapping’—and menaced by her husband’s identical ancestor (Tobias Menzies, in a dual role). Basically, it’s a checklist of all the things Ronald D. Moore is into—strong female protagonists, complicated love triangles, weird doppelgänger stuff, quasi-scientific/magical bullshit, accents—so it could be pretty fun, in an angsty, historical romance sort of way.

Outlander is set to premiere sometime this summer.
