Because The A.V. Club knows that TV shows keep going even if we’re not writing at length about them, we’re experimenting with discussion posts. For certain shows, one of our TV writers will publish some brief thoughts about the latest episode, and open the comments for readers to share theirs.

  • Sorry, just couldn’t resist the headline, but this was actually a great bottle episode. It’s surprising how good this show can be without all the annoying people. And really, I just can’t believe Meredith can ever fly anywhere after that plane crash.
  • It also works because it draws on Grey’s greatest strength: its longevity. Lexie mentions? Cristina and Derek flashbacks? Meredith in the water in the ferry episode? While these draw an uncomfortable comparison to how much better this show was without all the annoying people, it also helps us understand where Meredith’s head is at, in a way that practically no other show could pull off.
  • Queer Eye’s Jai Rodriguez as the brain bleed!
  • What happened to the rude juice guy? Did he die? Was so rude that we’re just not supposed to care?
  • This week in Grey’s metaphors: Meredith and Riggs work well together, but Meredith can also stand on her own (like when Riggs can’t help her with the brain bleed because he’s doing CPR on the juice guy).
  • Nice touch that the pilot was female, and as committed to her job as Meredith is to hers.
  • I”m still not really sure what’s in this for Riggs, and I can’t really get a handle on his accent, but he won me over this episode. I’m on board for him and Meredith to happen. It’s time.
  • Which means I’m going to hate Maggie even more when she messes this all up this week. She had a brief crush, so what? She is a child.
